2011 music by numbers

According to last year's post my last.fm play count was sitting at 92,378 on the thirteenth day of January 2011. As of today I am up to 137,233 or 44,855 songs played in the last year. Or approximately 863 songs a week or 123 a day. Sounds like quite a lot to me, but given that I tend to have music going all the time at work that I don't have to be in a meeting or on the phone (and often it is on if the meeting isn't in my office) it could be feasible.

Anyway, probably of no interest to anyone but myself, here are the lists for the top 50 artists and songs for 2011.

My top 20, according to last.fm

1 The Civil Wars
2 The Twilight Sad
3 The National
4 Moby
5 Groove Armada
6 The John Knox Sex Club
7 Kid Canaveral
8 Lloyd Cole
9 The xx
10 Malcolm Middleton
11 King Creosote
12 Kate Tucker
13 Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
13 deadmau5
15 Rains
16 Frightened Rabbit
16 Swedish House Mafia
18 Digitalism
19 We Were Promised Jetpacks
20 The Smiths
20 Thievery Corporation

Don't think its very accurate as doesn't pick up all my listening (eg nothing from car, which is still CD based). However, pleased to note that I saw 6 of the top ten in 2011...

Interesting list ... I need to check out The Civil Wars, Rains and Digitalism. Have heard all the others.

last.fm now picks up all my listening apart from in the car (but I hardly spend any time there anyway), so that is probably another reason for the increased numbers this year.

We only saw one gig last year, but it was The National at the St Kilda Palais so at least it was a good one.
